Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Lequerica has pitched in the minors.

He went 6-2 with a 2.35 ERA in high school. [1] He was 0-4 with a 9.64 ERA and 1.98 WHIP as a freshman at Bethune-Cookman then had a save and a 2.70 ERA in the COVID-19-shortened 2020. Transferring to Miami Dade, he had a 1-1, 4.08 record in '21. [2] Transferring again, he was 2-5 with a save and a 5.16 ERA at FIU in 2022. Switching schools again, he went 5-1 with a 4.71 ERA for the Miami Hurricanes in '23.

Signed by the Detroit Tigers as an undrafted free agent, he allowed 2 runs in 3 1/3 IP that summer for the FCL Tigers. In 2024, he pitched for both the FCL Tigers (2-0, Sv, 0 R in 8 2/3 IP, 13 K) and Lakeland Flying Tigers (3-1, Sv, 4.36 in 22 G). He was 8-0 with 3 saves and a 2.35 ERA for the '25 West Michigan Whitecaps. Only Josh Hartle (10) had more wins in the Midwest League, while Lequerica was one appearance shy of leader Mark Adamiak. He tied for 7th among Tigers farmhands in wins and was 5th in games pitched. He was 1-1 with a 5.56 ERA for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League.

Lequerica then made the Israeli national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. [3]
