Biographical Information[edit]

Carl Vandagrift was in 43 games with the 1914 Indianapolis Hoosiers of the 1914 Federal League, as a middle infielder. He was 31 at the time. While he hit .250, the team average was .285. Carl had played in the minors starting in 1907 (with four different teams that year), and finished up in the minors in 1917. During three of those years he was a player-manager.

Carl was the coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team in 1908.[1][2]

In contemporary boxscores and news articles in 1907-1909, he was referred to as "Vandergriff" rather than Vandagriff.[3]

He died young, in connection with appendicitis. [1]
