Biographical Information[edit]

Byung-chul Kang has had almost 2,000 decisions as a manager in the Korea Baseball Organization (through 2012) and won two Korean Series titles.

Kang was head coach of Dong-A University from 1978-1982. He moved to the professional ranks in the KBO's second season, coaching for the Lotte Giants in 1983. He managed Lotte from 1984 to 1986, leading them to the 1984 Korean Series title his first year. He coached for the 1988 Binggrae Eagles. From 1991 to 1993, he had a second stint coaching Lotte, including a title in the 1992 Korean Series.

Kang guided the Hanwha Eagles in 1997-1998, the SK Wyverns from 2000 to 2002 and Lotte for a third stint, from 2005 to 2007. In this period, he also coached for the South Korean national team in the 2000 Olympics. He then managed in the minors for the Nexen Heroes. He was 914-1,018-33 in the KBO through 2012.
