Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Brendan Rodgers was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the third overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft. He was considered the top high school player in the country that year, and there was speculation that he could taken first overall. He was the third shortstop taken with the first three picks, following college players Dansby Swanson and Alex Bregman. On June 17th, he agreed to a contract with the Rockies that included a $5.5 million bonus and was immediately assigned to the Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer League.
He had a very successful professional debut on June 25th, as he went 4-for-6, scored 3 runs and collected 2 RBIs in a 15-11 Grand Junction loss to the Orem Owlz; one of the hits was a homer in his first competitive game in over two months.
He was named to the United States team for the 2017 Futures Game and for the 2018 Futures Game. He made his major league debut with the Rockies on May 17, 2019.
