Bill Goodenough had a long minor league career, and came to the majors in August and September of 1893 to play center field. He is the only major leaguer through 2011 with the last name Goodenough although there have been a couple minor leaguers by that name.
It was once reported that he bore a close resemblance to Tom Parrott.
"There seems to be a fight on between the Western and Southern Leagues. The latter organization has robbed several of the Western teams of players who were reserved. The latest depradation is on Milwaukee and deserter is 'Bill' Goodenough, the outfielder, who has signed with Atlanta because he prefers to play in the South." - Sporting Life, April 6, 1895
