Bernard Malamud

Bernard Malamud was an American novelist and professor. He taught at Oregon State University and Bennington College in Vermont while writing several well-known novels.

The most well known of Malamud's works among baseball fans is The Natural, which was published in 1952. The Natural was turned into a major motion picture in 1984. He won the National Book Award in 1959 for The Magic Barrel. His 1966 novel The Fixer is also well-regarded.

Malamud died in 1986 of a heart attack.
