Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Austin Schotts played in the Detroit Tigers system from 2012 to 2015, peaking at High-A. He was taken by the club in the 3rd round of the 2012 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Jake Barrett and in the same round as future All-Star Edwin Diaz. He was signed by scout Tim Grieve.
He began his career by hitting .310/.360/.449 with 3 home runs, 21 RBI and 16 steals in 42 games between the GCL Tigers (40 games) and Lakeland Flying Tigers (2 games). He was a Gulf Coast League Post-Season All-Star that year. He slipped to .212/.278/.277 between the Connecticut Tigers and West Michigan Whitecaps in 2013, but still managed 31 steals. After posting averages of .211 and .237 in 2014 and 2015, respectively, his career was over.
Overall, Schotts hit .232/.289/.317 with 9 home runs, 91 RBI and 65 steals in 291 games.
