Biographical Information[edit]
Austin Maddox pitched for the US team that finished second in the 2008 World Junior Championship. He had a 0.52 ERA, 894 ERA+ and 0.865 WHIP in 13 relief appearances his first and only big league season, 2017, but never pitched again in the majors. Shoulder woes limited him to 7 2/3 minor league innings and a 14.09 ERA in 2018 and he did not pitch at all in 2019. He was released following that season and announced his retirement from professional baseball in February 2020.
In April of 2024 Maddox was caught in an undercover police sting for attempting to meet up and have sex with a 14-year-old girl.[1] A video of him being arrested was posted online by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on May 20th and the case gained a bit of popularity after famous journalist Chris Hansen, host of the true crime series, To Catch A Predator talked about Maddox's case on a podcast.
