Biographical Information

Atsuya Horie has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Horie was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 3rd round of the 2014 NPB draft; the scout was Yoshihisa Shiratake. He spent his first four season primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he only got 3 appearances in 2016. Horie also represented Japan in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup and 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup. He had a 6.10 ERA in 11 games in 2019, and he improved to a 4.17 ERA in 52 appearances with 19 holds in 2020. Horie was 6th in appearances in the Central League(tied with Noboru Shimizu) and 7th in holds (tied with Spencer Patton).

The Takamatsu native extended his solid performance in 2021, and he notched 17 holds with a 4.25 ERA in 51 appearances. Horie recorded a 3.12 ERA in 26 appearances in 2022, but he struggled in 2023 as his ERA was 5.14 in 8 games. He bounced back soon in 2024, and he collected 16 holds with a solid 1.58 ERA in 53 relief outings.
