Biographical Information[edit]
Aslen Llanes is the twin brother of Asnel Llanes. [1] They played for CB Sant Boi and El Llano in Spain. [2] While Asnel had played in the Cuban Serie Nacional and preceded Aslen on the Spanish national team (being on them in 2003), Aslen got to play for Spain in 2005, whereas Asnel did not make it into a game in '03. He hit .286/.448/.333 and fielded .864 at third base in the 2005 European Championship; he drew 7 walks in 8 games for the Bronze Medalists, scored six times and drove in two. He also handled five chances error-free at second base. He led Spain in OBP, .012 ahead of Javier Zabalza. He tied Evert-Jan 't Hoen for 4th in the Euros in walks that year. [3] He was 2 for 12 with a double, run and two RBI in four games at the 2005 Baseball World Cup, fielding .889 while backing up Pau Sancho at the hot corner. [4]
