Biographical Information[edit]
Andrew McQuade was a pitcher who played for the Unions of Lansingburgh of the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP) in 1866. He was also apparently captain of the first Lansingburgh Nine. He was a teammate of Bill Craver, Steve King, and Bub McAtee during his time there. On May 12, 1864 the Troy Daily Times reported that he was elected to be a director for the team for the following season.
On November 22, 1866 his carriage was struck by a train and he died from his injuries the next day. Some sources list him under the name "Anthony McQuade," as well as "Anthony McQuoid," "Anthony McQuide," "Andrew McQuide," and other similar names, which caused confusion among researchers trying to find details about him for years.
