Biographical Information[edit]

Andrew Gipson played four years of collegiate ball, then became a college coach.

While at Belhaven University from 2008-2011, Gipson was a part of three conference championships, four NAIA Opening Round tournaments, and a trip to the 2010 NAIA World Series. After graduating Cum Laude from Belhaven, Gipson started his coaching journey at Belhaven as a student assistant coach for 2012, graduate assistant coach in 2013, and promoted to assistant coach for the 2014 season.

For 2015 Gipson was hired at Southeastern Louisiana University as a part of Matt Riser's staff. From 2015-2019, Gipson served various roles for the Lions staff such as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During that time, Gipson was a part a 2015 Southland Conference regular season championship, and trips to the 2016 & 2017 Regionals. In 2020 he worked for Southeastern's administation as both an interim coach and as Southeastern’s Interim Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services. Riser hired Gipson as a full-time staff member for 2021 as the Lion's Pitching coach. In 2022 he served as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Lions when the Lions made another NCAA Regional appearence. In his time at Southeastern Lousiana, Gipson saw 47 All-Southland Conference selections, four All-Americans, and three Southland Player of the years. There were also 17 MLB Draft picks, most notably thus far Will Warren.

Gipson then returned to his alma mater Belhaven University named head coach in June 2023. In his first year he led the Blazers to a 25-17 record and secured the 2 seed in the Collegiate Conference of the South tournament. The Blazers took another leap forward in 2025 posting a 34-15 record while making their first NCAA Regional where they swept the regional and made it to the Super Regionals.

Following two successful years at Belhaven, Gipson was hired as the head coach for the University of New Orleans ahead of the 2026 season.
