Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Andrew Davis played in the San Francisco Giants system in 2007 and 2008, then spent 2009 to 2014 with the independent Lake Erie Crushers.
He was taken by the Giants in the 12th round of the 2007 amateur draft, ahead of future All-Star Drew Pomeranz, and was signed by scout Kevin Christman. With the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 2007, he hit .278/.361/.400 with 5 home runs and 46 RBI in 72 games. In 2008, he played for the Augusta GreenJackets, hitting .253/.303/.351 with 3 home runs and 56 RBI in 121 games. In his Giants-system career, he hit .262/.326/.370 with 8 home runs and 102 RBI.
He joined the Crushers in 2009, hitting .327/.408/.556 with 15 home runs and 68 RBI in 95 games his first season; he was second in the Frontier League with 7 triples, tying Chris Sidick and behind Gilberto Mejia's 10. Another highlight season was 2011, when he hit .339/.407/.562 with 12 home runs and 87 RBI in 93 games. That year, he led the league in doubles (39, 11 ahead of #2 Jose Vargas), was second in hits (123, behind Alvaro Ramirez's 124), second in total bases (204, behind Charlie Lisk's 210), second in RBI (behind Lisk's 94) and second in sacrifice flies (9, behind Zach Aakhus's 13). In 2013, he tied Frank Pfister and C.J. Beatty for the lead in sac flies (8) and was second in RBI (66, tied with Chase Burch and Beatty, behind Jacob Tanis' 72). In 545 total games with the Crushers, he hit .292 with 71 home runs and 387 RBI. He was an All-Star in 2009 and 2011.
At all levels, including a brief stint in the Australian Baseball League, he hit .284 with 79 home runs and 490 RBI in 742 games. He also played for the Lake County Black Bears of the Florida Winter Baseball League in 2009.
