Biographical Information[edit]

Alexander Dundik pitched in the Bundesliga and for the German national team. The first season for which Bundesliga-1 stats are available online (as of 6/11/2026) is 1994, when he was 8-0 with a 3.78 ERA for the Mainz Athletics. The 37-year-old led the Bundesliga-1 South in ERA (1.98 ahead of #2 Martin Helmig in the aluminum bat era loop), tied Stattler and Helmig for second in wins (one behind Klaus Knüttel) and was 3rd in WHIP (1.53, .06 behind Helmig). [1] He had a 5-1, 6.50 record for the 1995 Athletics, tying for 5th in walks, leading in low walk rate and finishing 7th in WHIP. [2] With Germany in the 1995 European Championship, he pitched parts of the 7th and 8th innings of their 13-7 win over Sweden, relieving Michael Wäller and working a scoreless frame (allowing two hits) before Stefan Fechtig closed it out. He did not fare as well versus Belgium, taking over for Fechtig and giving up four hits, a hit batsman and four runs (all earned); Michael de Gelmini succeeded him. [3] For Mainz in '96, his final season, he went 6-3 with a 6.24 ERA. He was 10th in ERA, tied Frank Jäger for 4th in wins, placed 9th in IP and was 4th in WHIP (1.37). [4]
