Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Abner Uribe reached the majors with the Milwaukee Brewers in July of 2023 after starting the season in AA. He made 32 appearances out of the bullpen for the Brewers that season, going 1-0, 1.76 with 1 save. He also appeared in two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Wild Card Series, giving up a run in an inning and a third.

On April 30, 2024, Uribe started a bench-clearing brawl in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays when he began arguing with Jose Siri after a play at first base, and punched Siri over something he said to him. Both players were ejected and Uribe was suspended for six games. He was just coming off a nightmare outing on April 28th in which he he had given up 5 runs in two-thirds of an inning against the New York Yankees and been charged with a 15-5 loss, so he may still have been upset about that. He made one more appearance after the incident, on May 1st, against the same Rays while the suspension was being appealed. It turned out to be his final game in the majors that year as he was sent down to the minors that same day, then went on the injured list in early June and was only called up in late September, at which point he had to serve out his suspension. He was 2-2, 6.91 in 14 games for the Brewers, and 1-0, 1.04 in 7 games for the AAA Nashville Sounds.

He had four more games to serve in the previous year's suspension when the 2025 season started and in spite of a poor spring training, where his ERA was 11.12, he was with the Brewers on Opening Day. He was finally allowed to take the mound on April 1st, after the Brewers' other pitchers had been beaten to a pulp by the New York Yankees' bats in a record-setting opening series at New Yankee Stadium. His first outing was a good one, as he did not allow a run in 1 1/3 innings and was credited by the official scorer with Milwaukee's 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals, the team's first of the season. It was the start of an excellent season in which he went 3-2, 1.67 in 75 games and recorded 7 saves. He pitched 75 1/3 innings, allowing just 51 hits and 27 walks for a WHIP of 1.035 and struck out 90 opponents. He pitched three hitless and scoreless innings as the Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs in the Division Series, picking up a save in the process, but in 3 games against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the League Championship Series, he geva eup 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.
