Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Aaron Jensen played in the Seattle Mariners system from 2004 to 2010, peaking at Double-A.
He was taken by the club in the 19th round of the 2003 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of infielder Edwin Maysonet, and was signed by scout Steve Peck. He began as a starter, remaining primarily in that role from 2004 to 2006, then began to pivot into a relief role in 2007. He missed 2008. His season ERAs were, respectively, 5.29, 5.56, 7.18, 6.88, 5.73, 3.20 and 4.40. He had one double-digit win season, 2005, when he went 10-13 for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers; that year, he led the Midwest League in losses, runs allowed (115), earned runs allowed (97), and he was one of just seven league pitchers to toss a shutout. He tied A.J. Wideman for second in the league in home runs allowed (21), behind Danny Core's 22. The previous year, in 2004, he led the Northwest League in hits allowed (90) and tied Darren Sack for the lead in starts (16). He was second in the league wins (7), behind Shawn Nottingham's 8.
Overall, he went 28-35 with a 5.57 ERA in 173 games (76 starts). In 513 2/3 innings, he allowed 639 hits and 192 walks (1.618 WHIP), while striking out 322 batters. He also played for the Waikiki Beach Boys of the Hawaii Winter League in 2007.
