2013 South American Championship
Argentina was 4-1 in the round-robin, with a 62-26 run differential, then beat Ecuador 4-2 in the semifinals. In the finale, they trailed 1-0 to Brazil and Romulo Shindo entering the 9th and were down to their last strike. With two outs, Lucas Nakandakare reached and Exequiel Talevi (Argentina's youngest player) pinch-ran. He stole, then scored on a hit by Martín Mondino. Ezequiel Cufré worked the first 8 innings for Argentina before Guido Monis took over. In the 10th, Jean Tomé relieved Shindo. With two outs, Juan Pablo Angrisano and Juan Martín got aboard and both would score to win it. Mondino was named tourney MVP, Agrnisano had the best average, Gabriel Sansó led in doubles, Eduardo Zurbriggen led in home runs and Guillermo Gardel struck out the most batters.
Brazil went 5-0 in the round-robin with a 48-11 run differential and crushed the hosts 9-1 in the semifinals before fading at the end of the Gold Medal game.
Peru was 1-4 with 34 runs and 57 runs allowed.
Bolivia went 0-5 with 12 runs scored to 70 allowed.
