1997 World Youth Championship
The 1997 World Youth Championship was the 8th World Youth Championship and was held in Taiwan. Cuba won their third title in four years, while Taiwan was second (losing the title game 5-4) and Australia won their first medal in the event (a Bronze). Chih-Sheng Lin played for Taiwan, Mitch Evans for Australia and Mario Garza for the US (fielding its first team).
