Are you hooked on Immaculate Grid, the daily trivia game from Baseball Reference? We sure are! We’ll warn you right now—this blog post contains spoilers. But if you’re looking for a little help with today’s grid (or you already filled it out and want to know who else qualified) read on.

To fill out today’s grid, you need to choose players who won Rookie of the Year for the Reds. There were 8 players who have won a ROTY award with Cincinnati . Here are some examples:

Jonathan India

Jonathan India was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds with the 5th overall pick in the 2018 amateur draft, out of the University of Florida. As a junior in 2018, he was the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year when he hit .365 with 16 homers and 40 RBIs. His selection added to a potential glut of third basemen for the Reds, as they had recently signed major league starter Eugenio Suarez to a long-term contract, and also had Nick Senzel, the #2 selection in the 2016 draft, also waiting in the wings. He was part of the Florida team that reached the finals of the 2018 College World Series. He waited until the end of the tournament to sign with the Reds, agreeing to a signing bonus estimated at $5.3 million on July 1st.

Scott Williamson

Scott Williamson‘s 2003 season was perhaps one of the oddest plot twists in the pitching history of the Boston Red Sox. In 24 regular season games, Scott had neither a win nor a save to his name. In the postseason however, he won two of the three Red Sox victories in the ALDS, and in the ALCS, he saved all three wins against the New York Yankees.

Chris Sabo

Chris Sabo had been MVP of Haarlem Baseball Week. He was on the US team that won Bronze in the 1982 Amateur World Series. Sabo was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1983 amateur draft by the Cincinnati Reds and scout Gene Bennett.

A very popular player, third baseman Sabo won the 1988 National League Rookie of the Year Award while playing for the Cincinnati Reds. He was a member of the 1990 World Champion Reds team and had his best season for them in 1991, hitting .301 with 26 home runs. After stints with the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, he returned to Cincinnati to end his career in 1996.

In July of 1996, a slumping Sabo was suspended 7 games after it was discovered that he had been using a corked bat. Facing a sharp decline in his statistics and ability, Sabo hung up his spikes that same year.

Pat Zachry

Pat Zachry shared the 1976 National League Rookie of the Year Award with reliever Butch Metzger of the San Diego Padres. He went 14-7 with the World Champion Cincinnati Reds that year. He started and won Game 2 of the 1976 NLCS against the Philadelphia Phillies and Game 3 of the World Series against the New York Yankees. Early in the 1977 season, he was traded to the New York Mets as part of the Tom Seaver trade; he and Steve Henderson were the key players acquired by the Mets, and while both played well at first, neither turned into the expected superstar. Zachry settled into being a reliable but unspectacular and injury-prone pitcher and never again reached the totals he put up in his rookie year.

In 1989, Pat Zachry played for the St. Petersburg Pelicans of the Senior Professional Baseball Association.
