Are you hooked on Immaculate Grid, the daily trivia game from Baseball Reference? We sure are! We’ll warn you right now—this blog post contains spoilers. But if you’re looking for a little help with today’s grid (or you already filled it out and want to know who else qualified) read on.
To fill out today’s top-right cell, you need to choose a player who won a MVP for the Los Angeles Angels. Here are some examples:
Don Baylor
The “Groove”, Don Baylor had an MVP season in 1979 with the Angels that included a .296 batting average, 36 home runs, 139 runs, and the lone All-Star appearance of his career, catapulting the Angels to their first ever AL West Division title.
Vladimir Guerrero
Vladimir Guerrero won an MVP with the Angels in 2004, hitting .337 with 39 home runs and 126 RBIs, as well as a .598 slugging percentage and a .989 OPS. His performance helped the Angels to their first AL West Division title since 1986.
Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani’s 2021 MVP season with the Angels was a remarkable one, showcasing his unique abilities as a two-way player. He made history with a .257 batting average, 46 home runs, and 100 RBI while also recording a 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts as a pitcher.
Mike Trout
Mike Trout earned 3 MVPs during his time with the Angels in 2014, 2016 and 2019. At the time of his third, he joined teammate Albert Pujols as the only active MLB players to win 3 MVP awards in a career. Despite this, the Angels only made it to the postseason in one of these three years, losing to the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS.

Here is a list of all 4 players who won a MVP for the Angels. Good luck with your grid!
