Yuya Kubo has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kubo had a 3.38 ERA out of the Japanese national team bullpen in the 2001 Baseball World Cup. He also appeared in the 2001 Asian Championship, when Japan won the Bronze. He tossed two shutout innings in the 2002 World University Championship. In college, he won 33 games and four MVP awards. The Yomiuri Giants took him in the second round of the 2002 draft. In his pro debut, Kubo was 6-7 with a 4.27 ERA in 38 games (13 starts) in 2003. He had a 7-6, 4.80 record with eight saves in 2004.
Yuya pitched 64 games in 2005 and went 7-4 with 7 saves and a 3.43 ERA. He was 5-6 with a 3.08 ERA in 59 outings in 2006. The right-hander went 3-5 with a 4.33 ERA in 9 starts and four relief outings in 2007. He pitched six games in 2008 and had a 2-0, 2.04 record. He threw two scoreless innings in the 2008 Japan Series, won by Yomiuri. In 7 games in 2009, he was 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA.
