Biographical Information

Cuban pitcher Yunior Tur had a rough major league debut for The Athletics on July 17, 2026 as he gave up 6 runs in 2 innings of relief in a 24-3 loss to the Washington Nationals.

He was signed by the Athletics on May 8, 2023 after defecting from Cuba. The scout was Juan Carlos de la Cruz. He had led the 2020-2021 Cuban National League in saves with 13 while pitching for Santiago de Cuba, also making the league's All-Star team that year. It was his third season in Cuba's top league. His career resumed in 2023 but it took him until 2025 to pitch at a higher level than Low-A. That year, he made it all the way to AAA, combining to go 4-9, 3.29 in 30 games at three levels, principally as a starter.
