Biographical Information[edit]

Yukiyoshi Okada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 seasons.

Okada signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1962, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He was 2-for-14 in 1965, and he only got 3 at-bats combined in the next three seasons. Okada was 3-for-10 in 1969, and he finally got some chances when Koji Okamura was injured in 1970. He hit .122/.209/.159 in 60 games, and he was 9-for-36 in 1971. Okada had a .255/.345/.451 batting line in 34 games in 1972, and he was 0-for-4 in the 1972 Nippon Series; the Braves lost to the Yomiuri Giants in 5 games. Okada shared the starting catcher spot with Masayuki Tanemo in 1973, and he played 83 games with a .243/.323/.384 batting line. However, he only got 3 more at-bats for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1976. Okada was the minor league battery coach for the Braves from 1977 to 1981.

Overall, Okada hit .215/.303/.351 with 81 hits and 13 homers in 435 plate appearances spread over 275 games and 10 seasons in NPB.
