Biographical Information[edit]
Yujo Kitagata has played in the minor leagues and the Nippon Pro Baseball .
Kitagata represented Japan in the 2011 BFA U-18 Baseball Championship, and the Yokohama BayStars took him in the first round of the 2011 NPB draft after they lost the lotteries for Takahiro Fujioka and Ryuya Matsumoto. His ERA was 6.91 in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2012, and he only pitched 9 games with a 1.72 ERA there in 2013. Kitagata suffered from yips in 2014, then the BayStars released him. The Fukuoka Softbank Hawks picked him up, but he didn't pitch any games for them and he was released again. Kitagata then pitched in the Japanese independent leagues, and the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him in 2019. Kitagata had a 7.20 ERA for the AZL Dodgers Lasorda that season, and he also pitched 13 games with a 2.53 ERA for the Auckland Tuatara in the 2019-2020 ABL. He then returned to the independent leagues, and he announced his retirement in 2022.
