Biographical Information[edit]
Yuji Ban signed with the Nishitetsu Clippers in 1950, and he hit .180/.286/.410 in 33 games in his first season. Since Nishitetsu already had star catchers Yasuo Kusunoki and Takeshi Hibino, Ban didn't get many chances. He played 43 games with a .181/.272/.264 batting line in 1951, and he recorded a .151/.240/.244 batting line in 1952. Ban then jumped to the Tokyu Flyers, and he had a .250/.339/.288 batting line in 1953. He moved to the Daiei Stars in 1954, but he was 2-for-16 and he announced his retirement. Ban later coached Yanagawa Commercial High School and Kokushikan University.
Overall, Ban hit .181/.275/.286 with 52 hits in 5 seasons in NPB.
