Biographical Information[edit]

Yuji Ban signed with the Nishitetsu Clippers in 1950, and he hit .180/.286/.410 in 33 games in his first season. Since Nishitetsu already had star catchers Yasuo Kusunoki and Takeshi Hibino, Ban didn't get many chances. Ban then jumped to the Tokyu Flyers, and he had a .250/.339/.288 batting line in 1953. He moved to the Daiei Stars in 1954, but he was 2-for-16 and he announced his retirement. Ban later coached Yanagawa Commercial High School and Kokushikan University.

Overall, Ban hit .181/.275/.286 with 52 hits in 5 seasons in NPB.
