Biographical Information

Yu Suzuki was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 9th round of the 2014 NPB draft; the scout was Daisuke Hayakawa. He only pitched 3 games combined for the big club in his first five seasons, and he also went 1-4 with a 6.23 ERA for the Atenienses de Manati after the '19 season. That summer, he had tied for third in the Western League in wins (6), was second with 79 K (9 behind Kosuke Baba) and would have led in ERA had he qualified. Suzuki was 1-3 with 2 holds and a 6.52 ERA in 13 games in 2020, and he allowed 10 runs in 10 innings in 2021. The Buffaloes then released him, and he signed with the Yomiuri Giants. However, Suzuki failed to return to the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2022.
