Biographical Information

Yoshitaka Okamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Okamoto signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1963, and he went 1-for-22 in his first season. He only got 6 at-bats in 1964, and he hit .247/.266/.351 in 77 games in 1965. Okamoto took Hiromitsu Negoro's starting catcher spot in 1966, and he hit .208/.242/.262 in 121 games. He played 122 games with a .250/.282/.335 batting line in 1967, then he moved to the Nishitetsu Lions. Okamoto's batting line fell to .108/.159/.154 in 1968, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Okamoto hit .214/.246/.283 with 171 hits and 10 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
