Biographical Information[edit]
Yoshio Wakebe played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Wakebe signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1963, and he went 21-for-82 in his first season. He crushed 13 homers with a .245/.330/.380 batting line in 1964, and he hit .237/.307/.347 in 102 games in 1965. Wakebe slumped to .177/.282/.223 in 1966, and he recorded a .247/.366/.365 batting line in 1967. He was then turned from an outfielder into a catcher, and he played 79 games with a .224/.324/.321 batting line in 1968. Wakebe spent the entire 1969 season in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Wakebe hit .233/.321/.342 with 244 hits and 25 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
