Yoshio Tazawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Tazawa signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1955, and he only pitched one game in his first season. He went 15-8 with a 1.81 ERA in 1956, and he was 10-6 with a 2.25 ERA in 1957. Tazawa nearly completed a no-hitter on June 24, but Masaharu Takita broke it in the 9th inning when there were two outs. He went 7-5 with a 2.56 ERA in 1958, and he pitched 15 games with a 4.50 ERA in 1959. Tazawa started in the 1959 Nippon Series Game 2, but he allowed a two-run homer to Shigeo Nagashima in his lone inning; Kiyohiro Miura took over. The Hawks still swept the Yomiuri Giants. Tazawa's ERA was 3.60 in 12 games in 1960, and he bounced back with a 8-4 record and a 2.84 ERA in 1961. He was 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 1962, and he announced his retirement in 1963.
Overall, Tazawa was 44-26 with a 2.61 ERA, struck out 303 and pitched 660 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
