Biographical Information[edit]
Yoshihiro Yamakoshi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Yamakoshi was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the second round of the 1986 NPB draft, and he went 1-for-14 in his first season. He shared the starting shortstop spot with Keijiro Yumioka in 1988, and he played 89 games with a .242/.272/.360 batting line. Yamakoshi was 12-for-43 in 1989, and he hit .231/.302/.423 in 81 games as Hankyu's main infield utility man in 1990. He recorded a .200/.211/.286 batting line in 69 games in 1991, and he played 47 games with a .250/.318/.275 batting line in 1992. Yamakoshi slumped to .161/.217/.214 in 1993, and he announced his retirement after he went 5-for-19 in 1994. He later coached the independent Kochi Fighting Dogs from 2017 to 2018.
Overall, Yamakoshi hit .225/.268/.331 with 114 hits and 8 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
