Ueno signed with the Nagoya Kinko in 1940, and he hit .210/.322/.239 in 65 games in his first season. He then missed the next six years, probably because of military service, and he played for the Nishi-Nippon team in the Industrial League. Ueno joined the Nishitetsu Clippers when they were founded in 1950, and he played 102 games with 16 steals and a .242/.342/.322 batting line. However, he missed the 1951 season due to injuries, and he went to the Hiroshima Carp. Ueno recorded a .233/.347/.301 batting line in 79 games in 1952, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Ueno hit .231/.337/.292 with 131 hits and 3 homers in 4 seasons in NPB.
