Biographical Information[edit]
Yoshiaki Toyama was drafted by the Yakult Atoms in the 6th round of the 1969 NPB draft, and he was 4-10 with a 3.39 ERA in 1970. He had a 5-11 record with a 3.25 ERA in 1971, and he also hit .211/.283/.379 in 74 games as an outfielder. Yakult then traded him to the Lotte Orions for Art Lopez, and he only played 6 games combined befire he went to the Nankai Hawks in 1974. Toyama hit .235/.290/.409 in 47 games in 1975, and he went 11-for-44 in 1976. His batting line was .301/.329/.452 in 31 games in 1977, but he only got one hit in 13 at-bats in 1978 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Toyama was 9-22 with a 3.50 ERA, struck out 148 and pitched 283 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB. He hit .219/.265/.345 with 85 hits and 9 homers in 9 seasons as a batter.
