Biographical Information

Yoshiaki Shinohara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Shinohara signed with the Daimai Orions in 1962, and he went 6-for-29 in his first season. He was 5-for-38 in 1963, and he hit .257/.314/.327 in 1964. Shinohara recorded a .232/.271/.304 batting line in 1965, and he became the starting shortstop in 1966. He played 94 games with a .209/.240/.280 batting line that season, and his batting line was .234/.324/.313 in 1967. Shinohara shared the starting second baseman spot with Masuho Maeda in 1968, and he hit .262/.320/.356 in 104 games. He then became the backup utility man in 1969, and he recorded a .250/.294/.348 batting line in 66 games. He went to the Yakult Swallows in 1970, and he played 34 games with a .227/.311/.273 batting line. Shinohara slumped to .077/.077/.077 in 1971, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Shinohara hit .231/.281/.305 with 284 hits and 11 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
