Biographical Information

Yasushi Matsubara signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1986, and he was 2-2 with a 3.53 ERA for the Miami Marlins (then a minor league team) in 1987. He was 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA back in Japan in 1988, and he had a 3.38 ERA in 4 games in 1989. Matsubara was placed in the minors in the next two seasons although he led the Eastern League in wins in 1991. He was traded to the Seibu Lions for Hirokazu Okada. His ERA was 6.75 in 5 relief outings in 1992, and he announced his retirement.
