Biographical Information[edit]
Yasuo Shirasaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Shirasaki signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1953, and he had a 5.00 ERA in 3 games in his first season. He relieved Taketoshi Ogami on August 16, 1954, but he threw a wild pitch to Teruyuki Takakura and manager Kazuto Tsuruoka replaced him with Motoji Takuwa. In fact a pitcher should faced at least one batter in NPB's rule, but umpires forgot about it. That was his only appearance of the season, and Shirasaki became the only pitcher that didn't face any batters in a season but had an appearance in NPB history. He went 1-1 with a 1.44 ERA in 1956, and he recorded a 1.61 ERA in 9 games in 1957. Shirasaki then went 7-8 with a 2.75 ERA in 1958, but he only pitched 5 games in 1959 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Shirasaki was 10-10 with a 2.67 ERA, struck out 133 and pitched 188 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
