Win probability
Win probability is a measure of which team has the better chance to win a given game at any point in the contest. It takes into account the score, but also the base situation (how many outs there are and how many runners are on base), the number of innings remaining to be played and so on. One team's winning probability does not reach 100% until the game is over and the win is "in the books", as there have been very rare instances of teams coming back from a win probability below 1%. The sum of the win probability for both teams is always 100%.
Win probability can be used for all sorts of purposes, one of which is to calculate Win Probability Added for all players who take part in the game.
