Biographical Information[edit]

Víctor Velázquez has played in the Dominican Republic, Spain and Germany and has been on the Spanish national team.

He hit .214/.475/.214 with 7 walks in 5 games in the 2009 European Junior Championship; mainly playing short, he fielded .815. He also was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA, losing to France's Quentin Becquey. Only Luca Martone drew more walks in the event. [1] He was signed by Atlanta Braves scout Néstor Pérez Sr. in April 2010. [2] He was 1 for 21 with 3 walks and RBI for the 2010 DSL Braves, though he threw out 50% of those who tried to steal against him as a catcher. The next year, he hit .154/.298/.179 for the same team, throwing out 38% while backing up Carlos Sánchez. That ended his career in the Braves chain.

His whereabouts from 2012-2020 are unclear; he was with the Tenerife Marlins in 2015. [3] The official Spanish stats archive site is under an official warning advisory when you try to access it online (as of this writing, 5/26/26) but it seems highly probable he spent most of this time in Spain's Division de Honor. He did play for Spain in the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier, going 0 for 4 while backing up Blake Ochoa behind the dish. [4] By 2021, he was playing in Germany, hitting .395/.527/.512 for the Dortmund Wanderers. He was 10th in the Bundesliga-1 north in average, tied for 5th in doubles (5), 7th in OBP (between Phildrick Llewellyn and Marco Cardoso) and 4th in putouts (83). [5]

Back in the Bundesliga the next year, he fell to .194/.375/.318. He was third with 11 runners caught stealing, one off the lead, while being 8th in thrown out percentage (28.2). [6] He batted .282/.366/.414 for the Hünstetten Storm in 2023, finishing 6th in runners thrown out (12). [7] He hit .318/.420/.419 as a 3B/C for the '24 Storm. He tied Llewellyn and Moritz van Bergen for 8th in the Bundesliga-1 South in hits (28), was 7th in average (between Billy Germaine and Marlon Jimenez), was 8th in OBP (between Devon Ramirez and Germaine), tied for 4th with 8 errors and led backstops with 7 runners caught stealing despite only playing half his games (roughly) there.
