Biographical Information[edit]

Victor Robles was signed by the Washington Nationals in July of 2013 as an amateur free agent. He had a breakout season in 2017, hitting a combined .300/.382/.493 in 114 games between the Class A Potomac Nationals and AA Harrisburg Senators. He accumulated a slew of extra-base hits - 37 doubles, 8 triples and 10 homers - scored 73 runs and stole 20 bases while playing for the World Team in the 2017 Futures Game. He was called up to Washington on September 7th and made his major league debut that same day, flying out as a pinch-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies. He hit .250 in 13 games. However, he suffered a setback in 2018 as an injury cost him most of the season. He was limited to 40 games with the AAA Syracuse Chiefs, in addition to some rehabilitation outings. He hit .278 with 2 homers and 10 RBIs in AAA, then .288 in 21 games with 3 homers and 10 RBIs in a September call-up to Washington. His unavailability during most of the season meant that fellow prospect Juan Soto leaped over him when the Nats needed some outfield help during the season, and the 19-year-old did not waste his opportunity, having a great rookie year.

In 2019, Robles won a starting job in centerfield during spring training and started alongside Soto in the Nats' outfield. On April 28th, he, Soto and fellow rookie Carter Kieboom all homered in a 7-6 win over the San Diego Padres. They were the first trio of teammates 21 or younger to do so in the same game.
