The University of Wisconsin-Superior was known as Superior State Teachers College until 1951, Wisconsin State College–Superior until 1964, and Wisconsin State University-Superior until 1971.
UW-Superior won the Wisconsin State University Conference championship in 1966 and received the District 14 berth in the Area 4 Tournament when Carthage College and Milton College had scheduling conflicts. The Yellowjackets lost to Missouri Valley College, 10-6, and Winona State University, 9-1, in Storm Lake, IA, May 27-28.
