Biographical Information

Tsubasa Sakakibara pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.

Sakakibara was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the second round of the development phase in the 2016 NPB draft. He notched 3 saves with a 1.46 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2017, and he had a 3.50 ERA in 5 games for the big club in 2018. Sakakibara went 3-4 with a 2.72 ERA in 2019, and he got a vote in the PL Rookie of the Year voting. However, his ERA was 5.19 in 9 games in 2020, and he only got one more appearance for the top team before he announced his retirement in 2022.

Overall, Sakakibara was 4-8 with a 3.78 ERA, struck out 109 and pitched 143 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
