Biographical Information

Toyoki Tanaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Tanaka was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 5th round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings for the big club in 2016. He recorded a 3.32 ERA in 19 games in 2017, and his 14 minor league saves were second in the Eastern League, four shy of Chiaki Tone. He surrendered 10 runs in 7 2/3 innings in 2018. Tanaka stayed in the minors for the entire 2019 season, and the Fighters released him. Tanaka signed with the Yomiuri Giants, and he had a 4.88 ERA in 31 relief outings in 2020. He notched 2 holds with a 2.84 ERA in 39 appearances in 2021, but he then underwent elbow surgery and missed the 2022 season. Tanaka's ERA was 4.09 in 15 games with 3 holds in 2023, and he announced his retirement.
