Biographical Information

Toyo Asayama was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 3rd round of the 1994 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first four seasons. He went 4-for-12 in 1999, and he hit .245/.264/.461 in 58 games in 2000. Asayama only got 7 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, and he played 39 games with a .226/.273/.419 batting line in 2003. He slumped to .098/.119/.146 in 2004, and he announced his retirement. Asayama later coached in Hiroshima's system for about 20 years, and he was their batting coach from 2020 to 2025.
