Biographical Information[edit]
Toshio Kitabata played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Kitabata signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1953, and he had a 3.38 ERA in 19 games in his first season. He went 6-11 with a 4.35 ERA in 1954, and he had a 4-9 record with a 3.22 ERA in 1955. Kitabata then pitched 30 games with a 3.03 ERA in 1956, and he was 1-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 1957. His ERA was 4.13 in 23 relief outings in 1958, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kitabata was 20-31 with a 2.77 ERA, struck out 178 and pitched 473 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
