Biographical Information[edit]
Toshikazu Yano was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 5th round of the 1972 NPB draft, and he only got one at-bat in 1973. He was 7-for-31 in 1974, and he went 5-for-34 in 1975. Yano had a 8-for-43 record in 1976, but he only got 2 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. The Whales then traded him to the Lotte Orions for nothing, and Yano was 11-for-55 in 1979. He failed to return to the top team in 1980, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Yano hit .187/.237/.283 with 31 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
