Biographical Information

Toshihiro Takanashi was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 5th round of the 1991 NPB draft, and he spent his first 5 seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He hit .194/.275/.210 in 39 games in 1996, but he only played 7 more games for the top team before he announced his retirement in 1999. He once held the Eastern League single-season hits record with 125 until Kenshi Sugiya broke it in 2010. He later became a scout, signing Yoshitaka Muto and Ryuhei Terada. His brother Yoshiaki Takanashi played in the NPB minors.
