Biographical Information

Toru Maeda was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 5th round of the 1973 NPB draft, but he only got 4 at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1980. He then became an umpire for the Pacific League from 1983 to 2008, and he worked 2,001 games in his career. He worked 4 All-Star Games (1987, 1991, 2002 and 2005) and 4 Nippon Series (1993, 1995, 1997 and 2001).
