Biographical Information

Tomoyuki Oda played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Oda was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 2nd round of the 1997 NPB draft, but he spent his first six seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 21 at-bats combined for the top team. Oda finally got some chances when Michihiro Ogasawara was injured in 2004, and he hit .322/.381/.526 with 8 homers in 77 games. He recorded a .266/.323/.378 batting line in 2005, and he hit .272/.337/.333 in 2006. Oda slumped to .164/.218/.219 in 2007, and his batting line was .291/.342/.390 in 2008. He only played one game for the big club in 2009, and he announced his retirement. He later coached the minor league team of the Fighters from 2013 to 2020, and he was their batting coach of the top team in 2021.

Overall, Oda hit .274/.331/.397 with 221 hits and 16 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
