Biographical Information[edit]

Tomoya Inoue had pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Inoue was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Teruaki Sato; the scout was Atsushi Fukumoto. He hit .246/.308/.393 in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2021, then he had a .205/.296/.308 batting line there in 2022 before a spinal disc herniation ended his season in August. Inoue crushed 9 homers with a .253/.300/.436 batting line in the minors in 2023, and he went 10-for-38 with the big club. His first hit was against Yuji Nishino on September 6, and he crushed his first career homer against Kazuya Ojima on September 25. Inoue then hit .289/.348/.407 in the minors in 2024, but he was hitless in 10 at-bats with the top team. He led the Western League with 23 doubles and 5 sacrifice flies, and he was 3rd in batting average (.020 behind Kouta Inoue) and 3rd in RBI (2 behind Richard Sunagawa and Yoshiyasu Sasagawa)
