Tomoya Hoshi has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Hoshi represented Japan in the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week. He was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 2nd round of the 2016 NPB draft, and he went 4-7 with a 4.73 ERA in his first season. He underwent right elbow surgery in 2018, so he only pitched 18 games with a 4.02 ERA in that season. Hoshi then had a 8.53 ERA in 10 games in 2019, and he pitched 36 games with a 5.25 ERA in 2020. His ERA was 4.81 in 25 appearances in 2021, then he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2022; he only got 7 appearances for the big club. Hoshi improved to a 3.38 ERA with 20 holds in 47 appearances in 2023, and he was 10th in holds in the Central League (tied with Akiyoshi Katsuno and Naofumi Kizawa). He notched 2 holds with a 3.62 ERA in 36 appearances in 2024.
Hoshi's repertoire included a fastball (peak 96.3 mph), slider, changeup, curveball and forkball.
