Biographical Information[edit]
Tomoki Takata played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Takata was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 3rd round of the 2012 NPB draft, and he went 2-for-17 in his first season. He had a 3-for-10 record in 2014, and he hit .307/.366/.366 in the NPB Farm Leagues. Takata shared the starting second baseman spot with Keizo Kawashima and Kenji Akashi in 2015, and he played 81 games with a .237/.292/.288 batting line. He slumped to .175/.288/.206 in 2016, then he recorded a .228/.273/.351 batting line in 2017. He struggled again at the plate as his batting line was .188/.265/.286 in 2018, and he collected a single against Geronimo Franzua in the 9th inning of the 2018 Nippon Series Game 5; the Hawks beat the Hiroshima Carp in 6 games. Takata played 93 games with a .157/.185/.165 batting line in 2019, but he missed the entire 2020 season due to a left foot injury. He only got 25 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, and he announced his retirement in 2022.
Overall, Takata hit .201/.260/.272 with 127 hits and 5 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
